Back to the roots – 16 bass heavy Underground House tracks with rewinds, stretched vocals and a all of the 1997 speed garage vibe. I mixed these tracks as late as 2003 as reminiscence of the 1997 craze for the rolling bass-lines. I was in London in 1997 and saw the scene emerge from its Sunday Champagne parties to clubs across the city and, inevitably, to Ibiza, of course.
Speed Garage – or UK Garage – deservedly never really made it outside of the UK scene. If you’re honest, it’s stylistic devices are rather simplistic. Take a high-pitched house beat with some breakbeat elements, add some garage vocals and put a rolling bass-line over it. Plus some cheesy sound effects borrowed from jungle, like gunshots and retro arcade game sounds.
All this being said, this is still a really cool mix and you should listen to it, like it and share it 🙂
